Hard Rock Hotel, Penang

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010

We finally landed in Hard Rock Hotel, Penang and it is bustling with activities. Despite it’s smaller size compared to other Hard Rock Hotel, it does have perhaps just enough to keep you entertain for a couple of days, and you always have the many surrounding areas you can explore.

Situated in the northern coast along Batu Ferringi, it started operation in Sep 2009 and from the look of it, has attracted quite a crowd. Most of the rooms are facing the sea and you can see the range of activites constantly been carried out. Para-sailing, horse riding, jet-skiing, sun-tanning, etc…you can be sure you will not be along at the beach.

With the pool just a stone throw away from the beach (literally), you can always decide where you want to swim. With activities taken the kids in mind, you can also leave your kids with them while you and your spouse have some relexation.

Food price are reasonable or you cab just cross the road for some local fare or cheaper alternatives. To get to the biggest shopping complex aka Gurney Plaza, you can take a cab for around RM30 or better still, take a bus (101 or 102) from right outside the hotel for just RM2 per person. If you travel light, bus 102 even takes you to the airport. Else by cab it will be RM60 and the reception can help you arrange for one.

The question is, did My family and I had a great time here? Will we consider coming back? The answers to both questions are a big YES! In fact, we plan for a longer stay (compared to put 3D2N trip this time round) so that we can spend a wee bit more time in the hotel and also spend some time at the surrounding areas.

Forgetting the past…looking to the (not so bright) future…

Tuesday, February 24th, 2009

Wow…it has taken me almost 3 months to write again. It’s not that I have lost interest in writing, but many things have overwhelm me so much so that I just couldn’t continue writing…till now.

So many things have happen in these 3 months that it will take many pages to fill. But I’ve decided to forget the past and look to the future in today’s post.

The economy crisis has been in the mind of most people nowadays and it is certainly on mine, especially with the crisis not likely to let up anytime soon. So I guess I have to relook into my lifestyle and make the necessary adjustment to it. But many times it is easier said than done.

With most part of our lifestyle committed before the crisis starts, things like our children’s education, our car, our house, contracts we’ve signed, installment we’ve taken up, etc…is not something we are at a liberty to change as we deem fit.

So what to do? Will have to bite the bullet and try and pull through, and make small adjustments along the way whenever circumstances allow.

While all these are going on, I have a trip to look forward in June. Something that was postponed from last Dec. Managed to claim 4 free tickets to Bali but now have to worry about the expenses when we are there. If we gave up the tickets, it will be such a waste, and if we go ahead, we have to worry about the amount we spend, what an irony!

MacBook and 1 cent air ticket

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

2 things caught my eye as I suddenly woke up at around 3am this morning. I know that Apple is launching their new range of laptop at around that time (or earlier) so I instinctively went to my laptop and check out http://www.apple.com/sg/macbook/

Boy, most of the rumors about the new Macbook is true and it’s a really slick laptop, one that will let me drool over. But one rumor is wrong, and the most important, Apple is not dropping price over their new Macbook. So maybe despite the current economic condition, they are still pretty confident they will sell well. Starting at S$2088 for their new range (they did drop price for their OLD Macbook by S$100), it’s not the cheapest laptop out there, but the way they have design it might just sway many to adopt it.

Will I get one? Well, maybe eventually but not in the near future, maybe I still habour hope that Apple will eventually drop price, just my wishful thinking.

Here’s a first look of the new laptops from MacWorld.

Then, when I was checking my email, Tiger Airways send me a mailer. 1 cent air tickets. Yes, their 1 cents offer is back, and in a big way. You can book to travel from now till 29 Sep 2009 (that’s 2009 alright), so you can really plan way ahead. Taxes and surcharges apply but that is to be expected for every airline. Or if you choose to fly to KL, it’s S$29 each way, TAX FREE. Not a bad deal I suppose, but I’ve already got my free tix to Bali this Dec and can’t squeeze in another trip. No, not leave issue but no moola, so gonna keep it real.

Hmm….maybe I’ll plan one trip for next June…haha…that is what I call long term planning.
