Happy Anniversary! …and a little prayer…

3 Oct is a very special day for me. Yesterday marks the 9th wedding anniversary for me and my wife. Yes, it’s been 9 long years! I still remember the 1st time we met, it was during a rehearsal for a performance when I am asked to be involved. I was suppose to be a rapping big angel in this dance routine.

You see, I was actually involved in the chorale was back than and my wife was in the dance group. They needed someone to ‘act’ in this role of a rapper angel, which is part of the song, and I was asked to be one. Our eyes sort of caught each other and that was how we started to know each other.

I remember our first date, hmm…not even sure if it is consider a date, but we just met up after church and went for lunch together. We than went to NTUC to enjoy the aircon there as it was a very hot day. And I remember her sampling mini tomatoes on that day, and I find it quick amusing really.

As we were both involved in a year end musical production, we met up pretty often forOur Wedding Picture rehearsals. One of the things we need to prepare is actually the robe that I am going to wear, and we are suppose to sew some sequins onto it. I lamented that I do not know how to sew and she volunteered to help me. I was naturally glad and I even went to her house to pick up the robe after she is done. That must be the first time I went to her house, and met her parents in the process too.

Not long after, we ‘officially’ became an item and we have many happy memories together. It was a great moment in my life. The day when I proposed to her, with no rings and no flowers, just a special gift in a box with a ring like thingie, I know she is the right mate for me. I did it at her place, down on my knees, and I believe she was really touched, despite no having a real ring. I always asked her if she regretted not asking for a diamond ring and she always have 1 simple reply for me. “No.” Guess I was lucky?

Our Wedding Picture9 years on since we got married and she gave us 2 handsome boys that we absolutely love. And even though we quarrel (quite a bit really), we still love each other as much. I planned for a special dinner on our 9th anniversary and we really enjoyed the night, in what I believe is our 1st date for many years. I think we really need to make time for ourselves more often. I was thinking of a few places to go and I know my wife will love to go to this Russian restaurant that I’ve told her about some time back, and true enough, she told me she was thinking of the same place, before I even suggest to her!

The place is call Shashlik Restaurant and it serves pretty neat Russian crusine, started by some Hainanese (my wife is a Hainanese and she have heard about them). The staff are all pretty advance in age now but they served really good food. It is located at Far East Shopping Centre at the 6th story and opens for lunch and dinner. If you have never tried Russian food, this is a good place to go.

I just want to say to her right here in blood (in digital ink actually) that ‘Dear, I love you as much today as I first know you, thank you for everything and for the patience you’ve shown in me, *MUAKS*!’

I just want to end today with something that has bothered me for a while now. Totally out of context to what I have be saying. I’m sure many of you are aware of the situation in Myanmar, and I pray for the safety of the protesters that they will not be abused by the authority and the authority will restraint using force, to prevent any further death. Let’s just pray that democracy will prevail and military rule will cease to exist.
